

Earlier in her career, Angela served as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Skywood Recovery Center, where she conducted psychiatric and dual-diagnosis assessments, managed detoxification protocols, and provided medication-assisted treatment for individuals recovering from substance use disorders.
Angela is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. She also holds a Buprenorphine waiver, allowing her to treat opioid use disorder, and maintains active RN and LPN licensure in the state of Michigan.
She is highly experienced with telehealth technologies and electronic medical records, including Epic, Cerner, Athena, and KIPU, and is skilled in e-prescribing, controlled substance documentation, and remote patient monitoring.
Angela is passionate about providing compassionate, trauma-informed care and helping patients achieve improved mental health and overall well-being.

Angela M. Nickens, MSN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of nursing and advanced practice experience. She is licensed in Michigan and specializes in comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and evidence-based treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions.
Angela earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and later completed a Post-Master’s certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through Maryville University. Her clinical background includes extensive experience in both psychiatric and substance use treatment settings, where she has cared for individuals with mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and dual-diagnosis conditions.
Currently practicing at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, Angela provides psychiatric care through telehealth and virtual platforms, allowing patients to access high-quality mental health services from the comfort of their homes. She is experienced in remote psychiatric assessments, psychopharmacology, treatment planning, and ongoing medication management. Her approach emphasizes patient-centered care, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and the use of evidence-based practices to support long-term mental wellness.
